What advice do you have for managers in checking in with staff?

It's important that leaders check in with their staff and approach this authentically. Often, when you talk about yourself and what you're doing, it can open the door to helping others feel more comfortable opening up to you as well. Judith Formston, Deputy Chief Executive of Corporate Services at the Department of Health and Wellbeing SA, talks about the importance of picking up on cues from staff that may be showing that they are uncomfortable with a decision or circumstance and how, from her experiences, it can really reveal what is going on with employees to then help support them better.
